iOS Engineer

We are looking for a self-starter for with a passion for technology to join our growing mobile team as an iOS Developer. Our technology team of over 70 colleagues sits at the core of our business and are a self-organising agile function who champion best practices to deliver products which are aligned to our key business goals.

The team is made up of six cross-functional product squads, who each own their own business and architectural domain and are supported by our platform, architecture, data, and IT teams. As part of our Mobile team, you will use your technical expertise to build, enhance, and maintain our iOS app using the identified architecture and leveraging technology to solve problems, automate processes, and improve efficiency in a constantly evolving environment.

The role will be a 37.5-hour week contract with flexible working patterns, our office is based in Wigan Greater Manchester, where the team meet in person approx. 1 day per month for team collaboration, project planning and to stay connected.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop iOS Mobile software, producing robust, clear and polished code, refining and rewriting where necessary
  • Deliver the full development of our product and its life cycle of features and components from insight and design through development, testing, integration, deployment, and operations
  • Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines to develop solutions that are complimentary, meet squad goals and follow best practices
  • Effectively engage with our agile application life cycle management process, implementing tactical procedures to deliver high quality code by agreed deadlines
  • Deliver new software solutions to users, proactively troubleshooting and investigating problems
  • Maintain and expand the functionality of our existing code base, creating new software solutions to collate and analyse data
  • Keep up to date and learn new technologies, applying these to projects as applicable

Who we are looking for:

  • Self-starters and can help shape our engineering department through their passion for technology
  • The confidence to challenge and make technical decisions displaying a positive and optimistic attitude to drive the business forward
  • Proven experience of Native App development (Swift), along with the frameworks, tools, and best practices that go with it
  • A passion for writing clean code so you spot good opportunities for improvements
  • An understanding of agile ways of working and how to utilise them throughout a PDLC e.g. prototyping & testing
  • A passion for continued personal development in the latest and new technologies and value sharing this with your peers
