It goes without saying that, as with most modern companies, IT is the enabler of everything that Wren Kitchens do, but did you know that all of these IT systems are built in-house by the 70 strong development team?

This tech team are led by tech people; Developers who have been there and done it meaning they know what is possible and understand realistic timescales for pieces of work. They work to agile methodologies and the devs get solid documentation, pulled together by dedicated BAs and prioritised by technical PMs.

Wren are now looking to strengthen their in-house development teams by recruiting a number of Software Developers to reinforce the good work that has shaped these teams over the last couple of years and to provide the tech backup for the 1200 jobs that Wren are creating in their upcoming £120million expansion.

Wren are able to offer a unique opportunity for a 3D Artist who want to help take Wren's proprietary 2D / 3D CAD package to the next level and really push their technical abilities to their maximum. This will involve creation of 3D models and textures to future-proof the planning tool. This CAD package is one of Wren's secret weapons when it comes to providing the best level of service to their customers. The CAD Planner tool allows Kitchen Designers the ability to build a kitchen in 2D plan, ensuring no collisions between units and compliance with regulations / manufacturing capabilities, before moving the kitchen into highly detailed 3D environment, which is where the skills of a 3D Artist become critical, enabling customers to see and feel how their new kitchen will look in their own home before committing to a purchase.

Key challenges for this teams at the moment are:

  • Ensuring the 3D models keep pace with the rapidly growing product suite on offer at Wren
  • Future-proofing asset management
  • Working closely with the 3D Development team (Unity3D / JavaScript) to deal with customer queries / issues

The 3D Artist will join at an exciting time for Wren Kitchens and will be play a big part in the success of Wren in the coming years through delivering the best tool available on the market today and into the future. The 3D team are open, collaborative and genuinely forward thinking, encouraging ideas and input from the most junior of developers and expecting input on architectural decisions from those with more experience. If you want to solve big technical challenges and help bring along more junior developers whilst you are doing it then this is the role for you.
